An Evening with Larry King and Friends 2005: Tim McGraw and Martin Short Perform at
Annual Larry King Cardiac Foundation Gala

WASHINGTON, DC March 11, 2005-- The Larry King Cardiac Foundation will once again entertain Washington dignitaries, media personalities and business leaders in a way that is equal to none at its annual “An Evening with Larry King and Friends” fund-raising gala. Hosts Larry King and Shawn Southwick-King celebrate their “Save a Heart a Day” crusade with 600 friends tonight at The Ritz-Carlton at 22nd and M Streets, NW, in the heart of Washington, DC.

Megamusic superstar and heartthrob Tim McGraw will perform an exclusive acoustic show with the Dancehall Doctors, his 8-person band. Renowned actor and comedian Martin Short will have the crowd in stitches during his uproarious routine.

The distinguished Gerald S. Snyder Heart Award will be given to August A. Busch IV, President of Anheuser-Busch, Inc. It will be presented by Washington Redskins owner, and Gala Dinner Chair, Dan Snyder, in honor of Dan’s father, who died from heart disease in 2003.

The Spirit of Life Award will be presented to Emanuel “Manny” J. Friedman, Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group, Inc., The award will be presented by friend and 2004 Spirit of Life recipient, Norma C. Ramsey, Director of The Ramsey Foundation.

The Physician’s Laureate Award will be presented to the Children’s National Medical Center’s Children’s National Heart Institute Team of Dr. Gerard Martin, M.D., Craig Sable, M.D., Greg DiRusso, M.D. and Michael Slack, M.D. United States Surgeon General, Dr. Richard Carmona will present the award to the notable CNMC team.

Television personality and pundit Mo Rocca and second season winner of “The Apprentice,” Kelly Perdew, will pull at guest’s heartstrings – and wallets – as they host a live auction featuring a 2006 Grammy Awards Package, Anheuser-Busch Sea World Discovery Cove Package and a customized Peter Max portrait for the winning bidder.

Featured silent auction items include a flight in the famous Goodyear Blimp "Stars and Stripes;" a 2-night stay at Venice’s most luxurious accommodation, Hotel Cipriani and a personal “Happy Birthday” serenade from Larry King.

Additionally, two patients, Efundem Arrey and Stephen McClure, who have had their surgeries and procedures funded by The Larry King Cardiac Foundation, will give remarks indicating the importance of the Foundation’s work is and how their lives have been affected.

The Larry King Cardiac Foundation has funded more than 100 surgeries and procedures for men, women and children who, otherwise, could not have afforded to have their cardiac procedures performed.

The Larry King Cardiac Foundation was established in 1988 to provide funding for life-saving cardiac procedures for individuals who, due to limited means and inadequate insurance, would otherwise be unable to receive treatment. The Foundation works with hospitals throughout the nation to ensure that such patients receive the medical attention they require. The Larry King Cardiac Foundation is funded from the proceeds of these annual galas, corporate sponsorships, King's books and speaking engagements.
